Islamabad-UNS: The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and the Iqbal Executive Development Centre (IEDC), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), organized the closing ceremony of the 4-month professional diploma in public procurement and contract management at NUST.
The diploma program, jointly designed and delivered by PPRA and NUST, has significantly contributed to building the capacity of public sector officials in procurement governance, regulatory compliance, e-procurement, and contract management.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi, Managing Director PPRA, commended the successful completion of the diploma and emphasized PPRA’s commitment to capacity building and reforms, aligned with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He highlighted that in collaboration with the World Bank, PPRA is developing an accreditation framework to standardize procurement training, ensuring uniformity, quality, and relevance across all public sector capacity building programs.
He informed that PPRA is strengthening strategic partnerships with think tanks and academic institutions to foster procurement expertise and promote data-driven decision-making through business analytics. Mr. Qureshi announced that a master’s degree program in procurement would be initiated soon in collaboration with academic institutions to further create a continuous stream of qualified procurement professionals, he hoped.
Mr. Qureshi highlighted that PPRA is establishing a pool of independent experts to support federal procuring agencies in ensuring independent grievance redressal and third-party oversight, thereby boosting transparency and fairness. He reaffirmed PPRA’s resolve to modernize procurement systems through evidence-based policy, inclusive capacity building, and adoption of innovative technologies.
MD PPRA Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi and General Manager (IEDC), NUST Muhammad Ali also distributed certificates among the diploma participants, acknowledging their dedication and encouraging them to drive procurement reform and ensure compliance with the regulatory framework, thereby strengthening the procurement processes within their organizations.
