Islamabad : A government girls’ high school in Manatu, Central Kurram, has been shut down due to a shortage of funds, leaving hundreds of girls without access to education. The school, constructed by the Pakistan Army as part of efforts to promote girls’ education in the region, had been a vital resource for the local community. The local Elder Malik sayed Raheem and other community memvers told to world Tribune.

The allocated PTC fund of 1 million rupees has been exhausted, forcing the school to close once again. This closure threatens the future of hundreds of girls who are already battling societal challenges, including restrictive tribal norms and customs that often limit their access to education.
The local community is urging the government to take immediate action to restore the school on a permanent basis. They believe that army supervision, similar to other Army Public Schools, would ensure the school’s sustainability and continued impact. The community argues that this would not only benefit the girls but also contribute to the overall development of the region.
The closure of the school underscores the urgent need for sustainable funding and support for girls’ education in Central Kurram. Without immediate intervention, the dreams and futures of hundreds of girls hang in the balance. This incident highlights the need for increased investment in education, particularly for girls, in rural and underdeveloped areas where access to quality education is already limited.
The community hopes that the government will take prompt action to address this issue and restore the school to its former state, enabling girls to continue their education and build a brighter future. By investing in girls’ education, the government can empower a generation of young women to become leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers in their communities. The other side The kpk authorties told that government and organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme, are working together to address these challenges through initiatives like the Merged Areas Ex Fata, Governance Project, which aims to stabilize the region and provide opportunities for socio-economic development.
