TERBELA GHAZI-UNS: The people of Ghazi and adjoining areas are facing problems due to the WAPDAs’ Contractor of T-5 project which is under construction. According to details T-5 project of Terbela Dam extension required over 50,000 dampers of raw materials of sands and stones for filling and construction purposes.The Contractor of the T-5 project are getting the said materials illegally at the cost of damaging local public interest and properties.According to public circles the activities of Contractor become major cause of damaging environment and beautification of the areas and Indus river.
According to the contract allocated by WAPDA the Contractor is responsible to arrange said materials from suitable and secure site. But the WAPDA Contractor of the project violates the contract basic rules, conditions and environmental aspects of the areas. According to the local social and political activists Terbela T-5 project Contractor involves in damaging public properties.
According to details the WAPDA Contractor digging river Indus bank areas,agricultural,private land and getting sands, precious stones and others materials illegally without the fulfillment of requirements and protection of local agricultural, land of the areas. This act creates problems for local population, creates chances of flooding and others environmental issues and damaging the beautification of the areas.
The hundred of local residents of the Phaye,Jammu and adjoining areas lodged a protest against the WAPDAs’ Contractor, Minerals, WAPDA and others concerned Departments. According to local people the Contractors’ tracks, Dampers using their private land which is violations of the rules and interest of the local population.
The VC Chairman of Pahye Malik Sher Asam said that due to illegal activities of T-5 Contractor in the areas the public property had badly damaged and the public interest also damaged. He said over hundred of heavy damper are using private property of public which is irepairable lose of public.The local people protest against Contractor, Dampers’ mafia.The local elder and Head of Pahaye Welfare body said that the WAPDA Contractor digging bank of Indus raver and using sands,precious stones,minerals from the raver illegally.He demanding the legal action against the Contractor,WAPDA and Minerals Department concerned officials whose are involved in this illegal activities. The protesters disbursed after the interference of Ex-District Mayor, Haripur ,Adil Islam and Khayam Islam. Adil Islam assured the protesters to be solve their problems on priority basis as per law and their wishes.
The local people demanded that the illegal activities of WAPDAs’ Contractor,Dampers, Trucks mafia should banned in the areas.
They said that due to the sands and stones lifting and digging in the areas the agriculture and forest land are damaged. The local environment facing huge threats due to the Terbela Dam,Brotha Project and Cantonment areas.They demanded that the federal and provincial governments should announced special developmental package for Tehsil Ghazi and to allocate special job qouta in the Terbela Dam and in the WAPDA.
