Pakistan make FIFA World Cup qualifying history by beating Cambodia

ISLAMABAD-UNS: Pakistan have achieved a maiden victory in qualifying for the FIFA World Cup as they defeated Cambodia 1-0 in Islamabad.

The historic victory guided the Team Green to advance to the second round of the 2026 edition of football’s mega tournament.

This was the first time after 2011 that Pakistan will host a World Cup Qualifier. Last time they had played against Bangladesh at Punjab Stadium in Lahore.

Both teams locked horns at the Jinnah Stadium Islamabad where they remained 0-0 in the first round. However, Haroon Hamed made a splendid goal at 68th minute, registering historic win for his side.

Social media users have showered praise on the Pakistan team for securing the maiden victory.
