ISLAMABAD -UNS:Senior officer of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Dr Tariq Mehmood Khan has assumed his responsibilities as Principal Information officer (PIO),Press Information Department (PID) on Tuesday.
He is a senior professional and honest and competent officer of Information Group.He is highly educated and has previously worked in important positions in the Ministry.He has obtained a doctorate degree from the United States.He is a Fulbrighter,Ph.D scholar in Communication and Globalization from North Carolina State University.
Press Information Department is the principal department of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, headed by Principal Information officer (PIO).
PID is working since 1947 with the mission to establish an authentic source for timely dissemination of information to people through all forms of media.
PID carries out its operation round the clock headed by PIO through a proper mechanism of media projection, monitoring and feedback. It aims to publicize the government policies and also to apprise the Government about the impact of its policies.
