ISLAMABAD -UNS: Muslim Council of Elders Expresses Rejection of Attacks on Churches in Pakistan and Issues Urgent Call to Suppress Discord and Resume Dialogue.

Under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, the Muslim Council of Elders expresses its rejection and condemnation of the reported actions undertaken by a number of extremists, who desecrated copies of the Holy Quran. Additionally, the Council condemns the subsequent retaliatory attacks on several churches in Pakistan carried out by another group of extremists.

The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, has affirmed that such criminal acts are contrary to the teachings of divine religions, laws, and human norms, all of which encourage the respect of others and refraining from attacking places of worship. He added that the Holy Quran stresses the importance of safeguarding places of worship and refraining from any acts of aggression against them.

The Muslim Council of Elders urgently appeals to leaders on both sides to swiftly address discord and confront hate speech by advocating for dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity. May Almighty Allah safeguard Pakistan and its people from all harm and adversity.
