Reference on 3rd death anniversary of Arshad Sharif Shaheed demand for arrest of killers

ISLAMABAD : A reference was held at the National Press Club Islamabad on the occasion of the third death anniversary of renowned investigative journalist Arshad Sharif Shaheed, which was attended by a large number of journalistic, political and social leaders۔
The event was organized by Press Club and Arshad Sharif Shaheed’s wife, Jawaria Siddique.

Mehmood Khan Achakzai Paid tributes to Arshad Sharif Shaheed and said that this is responsibility of the state to ensure the protection of truth-telling journalists.He said that their Is no  freedom of speech and freedom of expression in the country. He criticised the government for not investigation and arrest of the killers of Arshad Sharif.

Jawaria Siddiq said in his address that “Arshad Sharif sacrificed his life in the path of truth. His struggle is a torch for every journalist. We will not sit quietly until justice is achieved.”
He called on the government to arrest those responsible for the killings in Kenya and meet the demands of justice.

Hamid Mir said that “those who martyred Arshad Sharif in Kenya are still so powerful that the hearing of the case is not being allowed to proceed.” He demanded that the case be reopened at the international level.
Matiullah Jan said that “Arshad Sharif was a symbol of truthfulness and courage, his blood will not go in vain.”
Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari suggested that “this event should be held every year and ‘Arshad Sharif Shaheed Award’ should be given to brave journalists.”

Journalist leaders vowed that the struggle for justice for Arshad Sharif will continue until the killers are brought to justice.
At the end of the ceremony, candles were lit and prayers were offered for the elevation of the status of the martyr.

Arshad Sharif, who was shot dead by unknown assailants in Kenya on October 23, 2022, is one of the fearless journalists of Pakistan who gave a new dimension to investigative journalism.
Prayer events and solidarity gatherings are being organized across the country on the occasion of his death anniversary.
