President PFUJ demands IHC to take immediate notice of subordinate judiciary’s move in Ranas’ case

ISLAMABAD -UNS:An important meeting of the Rawalpindi / Islamabad Union of Journalists and the National Press Club, headed by PFUJ President Afzal Butt, was held in the National Press Club Islamabad. The meeting reviewed the investigative story of senior journalist Shahbaz Rana, which is being prosecuted against him in a local court in Islamabad.

The meeting also reviewed the official records of the news story. The participants declared that the news is not only in accordance with official records but also the videos of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and according to the incident evidence, the news has also been true.

The meeting expressed surprise that a petition in which the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Secretary Finance, Secretary of Interior, Secretary Establishment and IG Islamabad were also made a party. No co -accused was issued notice but unilateral trial against investigating journalist Shahbaz Rana. Continued.

PFUJ President Afzal Butt, calling the trial court actions against the principles of fair trial, demanded the Islamabad High Court to take immediate notice of the subordinate judiciary’s move, saying that the court should immediately intervene to ensure the requirements of justice in this matter.

Afzal Butt said that a prominent investigative journalist in Islamabad is not getting the right to a fair trial during a judicial proceedings is a question mark on the entire system of justice and the entire journalist community is concerned about the matter.

The meeting was attended by Rawalpindi / Islamabad Union of Generalists President Tariq Work, General Secretary Asif Bashir Chaudhry, President National Press Club. Azhar Jatoi, Secretary Nayyar Ali and former President RIUJ Senior Journalist Mubarak Zeb Khan.
