Peshawar -UNS: European Union (EU),through Agence Française de Développement (AFD) as Lead Partner, in collaboration with the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has successfully concluded various works under EU Grant at Warsak Hydroelectric Power Station, marking a major milestone in the drive toward sustainable infrastructure and local community development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This multi-dimensional phase focused on modernizing the Warsak Hydroelectric Power Station, strengthening flood and sediment management systems, and uplifting local communities in nearby vicinity through capacity-building and social development initiatives.
WAPDA’s role has been central in implementing high-impact interventions across the project. Key developments include:
Rehabilitation of community infrastructure, including schools, water systems, and nearby villages
Upgradation of technical workshops and installation of modern safety equipment
Establishment of a water quality control laboratory and sediment monitoring facilities
Enhanced flood protection and sediment flushing systems for long-term ecological resilience
