ISLAMABAD -APP: The senior Hurriyat leaders solemnly commemorated the 22 martyrs who laid down their lives on July 13, 1931, opposing the oppressive Dogra regime and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to continue the struggle for freedom until its logical conclusion, vowing never to submit to tyranny.
On the evening of July 13, Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Syed Manzoor Ahmad Shah, speaking to PTV News emphasized that the sacrifices of the 22 martyrs of 1931 continue to serve as a beacon of resistance, inspiring generations to uphold the cause of justice and self-determination.
He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Kashmiri people to persist in their struggle for freedom until its logical conclusion, vowing never to succumb to tyranny.
He recounted how, during the trial of Abdul Qadeer, when the time for Zuhr (afternoon) prayers approached, a young man began the Azaan (call to prayer) but was shot dead by Dogra soldiers.
Another youth immediately took his place and continued the Azaan, only to be martyred as well. This sequence repeated until 22 Kashmiris had been martyred, each taking up the call to prayer where the previous one had fallen, ensuring the Azaan was completed, he recalled the time while explaining.
He also condemned the rise of Hindutva ideology and its implications for the region, highlighting the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah called on the international community to take immediate action to address these issues and support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Abdul Hameed Lon, a prominent voice for Kashmir’s cause also emphasized that the 22 martyrs of July 13, 1931, have united the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of justice and self-determination.
