slamabad-UNS: : Secretary General of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Muhammad Humayun Khan, in his message on the occasion of Black Day – July 5, said that July 5, 1977, is a dark day in the political history of Pakistan. It was the day when a democratically elected government was overthrown, the constitution was suspended, the people’s right to rule was hijacked, and dictatorship seized control of the country.
Humayun Khan stated that on this day, General Zia-ul-Haq toppled the democratic government led by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and pushed Pakistan into political, social, and economic darkness. It was not just a conspiracy against one political party, but a declaration of war against democracy, people’s power, and constitutional supremacy.
eH said that the Pakistan Peoples Party still observes this day as Black Day and pays tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and all those workers who sacrificed their lives for the cause of democracy.
