Zakat Foundation of Americas’ seminar on ‘bridging gaps to serve the nation’ held in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD -UNS: The Zakat Foundation of America organized a seminar at the Islamabad Club “Bridging gaps to serve the nation: Role of Development Sector & Ministry of Poverty Alleviation”. The event brought together country heads and representatives of prominent international charitable organizations operating across Pakistan.
The primary objective of the seminar was to create a unified platform for International Non-Govermental Organizations (INGO’s) and public sector to collaboratively address key social issues such as poverty alleviation, access to quality education and healthcare, and the provision of clean drinking water. The forum also aimed to develop a coordinated strategy in line with the efforts of Pakistan’s Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, to ensure a more effective and united approach in tackling poverty nationwide.
The seminar was chaired by Mr. Fazal ur Rehman, Country Head of the Zakat Foundation of America. The Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Pir Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Senior representatives and country heads from various Muslim and international welfare organizations based in Islamabad and other cities also attended, recognizing the event as a milestone in collaborative efforts for the development sector.
In his address, Mr. Fazal ur Rehman stated: “The goal of this seminar was to bring INGO’s and public sector organizations working in Pakistan under one roof to jointly focus on eradicating poverty and improving access to education, healthcare, and clean water. By aligning our efforts with those of the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation, we can enhance the reach and impact of these initiatives through a unified strategy.”
Several representatives from welfare organizations expressed that although they are always present on the ground during crises and emergencies, their contributions often go unrecognized and uncoordinated by the public sector. They urged the government to formally acknowledge and support their services at the national level.
Addressing the audience, Federal Minister Pir Syed Imran Ahmad Shah remarked: “It is a great honor for me to meet representatives from some of the world’s leading charitable organizations today. I commend the Zakat Foundation of America for successfully bringing them together under one roof for the first time.”
