Russian Embassy in Pakistan celebrated 80th anniversary of victory in Great Patriotic War

ISLAMABAD -UNS: Embassy of the Russian Federation in Pakistan celebrated 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War ,on May 6, Tuesday,in Islamabad.
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Pakistan hosted a grand reception to celebrating 80 th Anniversary in the Great Patriotic War. It was a well-organized, informative and a very high-level event. The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari was the chief guest, who also planted a tree on the occasion of the 80 th Anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Ambassador of the Russian Federation Albert Pavlovich Khorev along with other diplomats of the Russian Embassy warmly
welcomed the guests.
The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Senate Syed Mr. Yousuf Raza Gillani, Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, Chairman Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party ,Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Honorary Consul of Russia for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ,Muhammad Arsalah Khan, Honorary Consul for Punjab Mr. Habib Ahmed, Provincial Culture Secretary ANP, Akbar Khan Hoti Advocate, General Secretary MLF , Nasir
Khan Advocate, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, representatives of
the Armed Forces of Pakistan, Ambassadors of friendly countries accredited in Islamabad,
renowned senior journalists from print and electronic Media including Chief Editor World
Tribune  Iftikhar Mashwani,  Ashraf Malkham,  Sohail Chaudhry representatives
from Pakistan National Television as well as delegation of the Association of Pakistani
Graduates from Russia & CIS (APGR &CIS) comprising of Chairman Dr. Shahid Hassan,
General Secretary, Engr. Iftikhar Ali, Dr. Najam But, Dr. Hassan Shah,  Imtiaz ul Haq,
Dr. Farman, Mr. Raham Dil, Engr. Ihsan ur Rahim, Dr. Saqib, Mr. Baryal Khan Khattak,
Safdar Abbas. Dr. Nawaz Qaisrani.
Addressing the guests, Ambassador Albert P. Khorev emphasized the timeless nature of
Victory, recalled that the peoples of the Soviet Union made a decisive contribution to its
achievement, and stressed the inadmissibility of efforts by several Western countries to
distort the historical truth.
President of Pakistan  Asif Ali Zardari congratulated the President of the Russian
Federation, Ambassador of Russian and people of Russia on the upcoming Victory Day and
highlighted the strength and resilience displayed by the Soviet people during the war.
After the cake cutting ceremony, the reception was enlivened by the performance of the
State Cossack Song and Dance Ensemble ‘Stavropolye’, which delighted the audience with
some of the most popular songs of the Great Patriotic War.
