Torkham border closure: Pak -Afghan annual trade volume reduces $ 1 billion

PESHAWAR -UNS: The annual trade volume between Pakistan and Afghanistan fell from $ 2.5 billion to $ 1.5 billion due to closure of Torkham border.
The trade route between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been closed despite the passage of more than three weeks due to tensions between the two countries.

Traders and transporters say they have lost crores of rupees so far if the border is not opened.

Pakistan exports to Afghanistan via Torkham, centers, medicines, chicken and other items, including meat, while Pakistan is imported from Afghanistan in large quantities of fruits, vegetables and coal.

Until a few years ago, the annual trade volume between the two countries was more than $ 2.5 billion, which fell to $ 1 billion last year.

The jirga consisting of tribal elders and businessmen from both countries has begun work to open the Khum border, and members of the jirga are hopeful that they will soon be able to open the border.

The closure of the Torkham border affects the annual trade volume during the two countries, while due to the suspension of commercial headlines, the two countries have lost more than three billion rupees in revenue.
