GUJRANWALA :As per the instructions of the Punjab Government, the operation against encroachments is underway in Gujranwala. According to details the Municipal Corporation team has removed 13 permanent and dozens of temporary encroachments including several plazas from different areas of the city.
Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi along with Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed visited these areas, reviewed the operation and also inspected the renovation and beautification work of the clock. Chief Traffic Officer Ayesha Butt, AC City Iqra Mubeen, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Haider Chatha were also with them.
During a briefing to the Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, the Chief Officer Municipal Corporation said that six double-story, one four-story plaza, three two-story plazas, which were illegally constructed in Sheikhupura Mor, Nayain Chowk, Thakur Singh Gait, Tees Fita Bazaar near Municipal Corporation Office and other areas of the city, have been demolished.
Similarly, several temporary encroachments have been removed and the goods have been taken into possession. Meanwhile, Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, along with Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, said on the occasion of his visit to Ghanta Ghar Chowk that the encroachments that have been there for seven decades have been removed.
Work is underway to restore the Ghanta Ghar to its original condition at a cost of Rs 2.7 million. Similarly, a paved road will be constructed and plantation will be done on the reclaimed land. He directed that the Municipal Corporation complete the planning in this regard soon. He directed that the action against encroachments will continue until the highways and markets are opened in their original condition.
