Qaumi Watan Party welcomes peace agreement in Kurram

PESHAWAR -UNS: A significant meeting of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) was held under the chairmanship of Central Chairman Aftab Khan Sherpao, where the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in Kurram, was discussed.

The meeting, attended by Central General Secretary Ahmad Nawaz Khan Jadoon, Political Secretary to the Chairman’s Office Hanif Shah, and Central Social Media Coordinator Yusuf Khan, also focused on the arrangements for the death anniversary of former Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Hayat Khan Sherpao.

Aftab Sherpao welcomed the signing of the peace agreement between the parties in Kurram, terming it a “positive development.” However, he expressed concern that the agreement took too long to materialize, stating that “it should have been done much earlier”.

Sherpao emphasized the importance of fully implementing the agreement to ensure lasting peace in the region and achieve long-term results. He also urged the authorities to open routes on a priority basis to reduce difficulties in movement, especially for patients.

The QWP chairman announced that the death anniversary of former Governor Hayat Khan Sherpao will be commemorated in February with due respect.

Aftab Sherpao, a seasoned politician and founding chairman of QWP, has been a vocal advocate for greater autonomy for Pakistan’s provinces and the protection of rights for smaller ethnicities, particularly the Pashtun population.
