TTP termed news of targeting foreign diplomats as baseless

By Saleem Bukhari
ISLAMABAD :  Band Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has termed the reports of targeting foreign nationals or diplomats in Pakistan as baseless.
In a statement released by the banned organization, it is said that “due to the high alert issued by the government of Pakistan, the United States, England, Italy and Saudi Arabia have warned their citizens and diplomats of possible attacks”. It is further stated in the declaration that “It is not our aim to target diplomats or citizens of these countries and we hope that these countries will not unite with Pakistan against us. It is clear to all that we have no foreign agenda”.
It should be noted that this declaration has been issued by the outlawed TTP at a time when security has been increased several times at the embassies and consulates in Islamabad and other cities and strict checking is in progress.
In such circumstances, by issuing such declarations, the militants are trying to play a double trick so that on the one hand the security of the embassies can be loosened and on the other hand, USA, Europe and Arab countries can get the impression that the militants fighting in Pakistan are not their enemies.
