Not allocating reserved seats to PTI: KP govt to file writ petition against ECP

By Our Correspondent
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif said on Friday that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would file a writ petition against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In a statement, the Information adviser said the government had decided to bring a writ petition against the ECP for not allocating reserved seats to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

“The ECP hasn’t issued notification of reserved seats despite the Supreme Court’s (SC) majority verdict. It also hasn’t issued schedule for election of KP’s Senate seats. The approval of the writ petition was given during the last provincial cabinet meeting presided over by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur,” he added.

He informed the media that the KP advocate general would file the petition while accusing the ECP of using dilatory tactics as well as violating the SC’s order.

“The prejudice of the ECP against the PTI has given us huge loss. The ECP has committed contempt of court and violation of the Article 6,” he concluded.
