KARACHI: The twenty-kilometer roads rehabilitated /constructed in Larkana by Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project have helped transform the lives of almost seventy thousand residents of Larkana City and suburban areas as commutation from one place to the other has become quite convenient with more time saving and lesser fuel costs.
According to Project Director SFERP Planing and development component Ghulam Asghar Kanasro briefed that the five kilometers road rehabilitated, which is operational now, from Chandka Medical College bridge to circular road along with the Rice Canal has made the traffic originating from city to approach Larkana bypass through the shortest route making it much more convenient both in terms of time and money. He said that this road would transform the traffic culture entirely as people were used to travel on a broken path devoid of asphalt with a lot of inconvenience as no road existed previously and people were forced to travel on this dilapidated track. The rehabilitation of this road would help the people to carry out their normal life activities including farm to market activities, schooling, health services, improving law and order along with social activities.
He said that another 1.2-kilometer road rehabilitated under the project is from Bakhtawar High School to Dargah Pir Jan Muhammad via Budho and Labor colony, Naudero which has connected the suburban areas of Larkana with Larkana-Sukkur highway(N-5).
He said that after rehabilitation this road would facilitate the residents to directly approach the highway for their farm to market operations indirectly causing prosperity through selling their commodities in big cities getting better prices for the produce grown by them.
The five-kilometer roadinaugurated by Madam Faryal Talpur, MPA Sindh Assembly, from Akil Bridge to Circular Road via village Malook Korai would connect the different villages located on this road with circular road to make the traffic flow easier as this road was completely damaged during the last floods and had become non commutable.
An other road rehabilitated under the project is from Arija Purani Gudd via village Gudd. This 8.5 kilometer road would connect these villages with the Mohenjo Daro airport road. In this regards the press release of SFERP said that the rehabilitation of Naudero- Sukkur Road would have a connection of villages namely Rahoja, Abrepota and Wistra with Larkana- Sukkur highway facilitating the residents of these villages ultimately leading to a more comfortable living as road network is the key to development.
