ISLAMABAD :Huge corruption and irregularities are reported in the purchasing of coal for Sahiwal Coal Power Plant,the resources revealed.The sources said that some officials are involved in the financial and administrative irregularities.
The Power Division has sought details on the issue of buying expensive coal for Sahiwal Coal Power Plant.
According to sources the Power Division has sought details from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on the issue of expensive coal procurement.
In the light of the directive of the former power minister, the Power Division has asked for details on the complaint related to buying expensive coal and putting additional burden on electricity consumers.
The former caretaker energy minister had ordered an inquiry into the issue of non-transparency in the selection of coal suppliers.
The Complaints were raised in front of the former Energy Minister about increasing the burden on electricity consumers due to the purchase of expensive coal.
Sources said that officials purchase coal as per CPPA as per NEPRA guidelines, submit coal purchase and electricity cost to NEPRA every month.
