ECP freezes LG funds ahead of Feb 8 polls

ISLAMABAD -UNS:The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has frozen the development funds of local bodies and cantonment boards across the country.

According to an ECP notification, the development funds of local bodies of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhaw, Balochistan and cantonment will remain frozen until the completion of the election.

The notification clarified that the local bodies would only deal with day-to-day affairs, clearing, sanitation and would not be able to issue or tender new schemes.
