FO spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan appoints Pakistan’s new ambassador to UAE

ISLAMABAD :Senior diplomat Shafqat Ali Khan has been appointed Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
According to the sources Foreign Ministry’s Additional Secretary (Europe) and spokesperson, Shafqat Ali Khan, have been decided to appoint Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He will replace Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, who has been named Pakistan’s new ambassador to Russia (Moscow).
Tirmizi will replace Khalid Jamali, who is currently serving as an ambassador to Russia.

According to diplomatic sources, the decision has been made in principle at a higher level.

Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan is a very capable and experienced diplomat, and he is the first person from Gilgit -Baltistan.He got such a high position in the Foreign Ministry.

Shafqat joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP) in 1993, and in the last 30 years, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia (2020-23) Ambassador to Poland (2017-2020) Director General for Europe, Foreign Office (2016-17) Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan’s Permanent Mission in the United Nations Geneva,adviser to Speaker National Assembly(2014-15).
His educational qualifications include Kings College London, Quaid -e -Azam University Islamabad, Apasala University, Sweden.
