ISLAMABAD-UNS: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani observed that sustainable progress requires strong institutions and open systems to deliver better services to the people of Pakistan while ensuring transparency and accountability. He was addressing closing ceremony of International Federation of Consulting Engineers FIDIC Asia-Pacific Mid-Year Conference 2025 as Chief Guest in Islamabad.

He reaffirmed his commitment“During my tenure as Prime Minister, we actively promoted public-private partnerships, encouraged investment in infrastructure, and worked to create a regulatory environment that supported business and innovation”, Mr to supporting initiatives and reforms that strengthen Pakistan’s engineering and infrastructure ecosystem, build institutional integrity, technical excellence, and inclusive progress.  Mr. Gilani remarked that Senate stands ready to support legislation aimed strengthening procurement governance, encouraging ethical engineering practices, and promoting dispute resolution frameworks aligned with international norms.

He commended the Association of Consulting Engineers of Pakistan (ACEP) for bringing together such an impressive gathering of minds from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Mr. Gilani stated that thoughtful design of this conference, the quality of dialogue, and the inclusion of diverse stakeholders truly reflect Pakistan’s growing stature in global engineering, procurement, and infrastructure discourse.
He said that engineering and infrastructure hold a central place in every nation’s growth and development. Roads, bridges, energy systems, and water networks are not just structures of steel and stone; they are lifelines that connect people, enable trade, and uplift communities, Senate Chairman remarked. He acknowledged the role of FIDIC in setting global benchmarks for integrity, clarity, and efficiency in project delivery. While considering infrastructure needs of Pakistan important, Chairman Senate underlined the need for judicious use of public resources and the adoption of such internationally recognized standards.   He called for moving toward a future where infrastructure is not only well-built but also well-governed.
