Strictest Security arrangements on Youm-e-Ashura: Central monitoring cell coordinating with provinces

Islamabad-UNS:  On the occasion of Youm-e-Ashura, the strictest security arrangements have been made across the country. A total of 4,836 processions and 5,480 Majalis are being held nationwide, while 1,301 areas have been declared highly sensitive. In line with the directions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the central monitoring cell in Islamabad is actively coordinating with provincial control rooms for real-time exchange of information.

Strict security measures have been put in place across Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. In Islamabad 54 Majalis and 12 processions are taking place. In Punjab, 2,502 Majalis and 3,025 processions are being held. In Sindh, 1,040 Majalis and 1,039 processions, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 735 Majalis and 257 processions, in Balochistan 32 Majalis and 24 processions, in Gilgit-Baltistan 1,070 Majalis and 141 processions, and in Azad Kashmir 47 Majalis and 41 processions are being organized.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that just as law and order was maintained on 9th Muharram, all law enforcement agencies and the administration remain on high alert for Youm-e-Ashura as well. He added that a crackdown against religious hatred and sectarianism on social media is underway. He highlighted that effective measures have been put in place for Ashura, and InshaAllah, the day will also conclude peacefully.

Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Police, administration, and other institutions for ensuring the peaceful observance of Youm-e-Ashura.
