New Zealand to set 321-run target for Pakistan in opening match of CT

KARACHI-UNS: In the opening match of the opening match of Champion Trophy 2025,New Zealand set a 321-run target for Pakistan at National Stadium, Karachi on Tuesday.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bowl first. New Zealand struggled early, losing three wickets for 73 runs, but a 118-run stand for the fourth wicket steadied their innings.

Latham and Phillips further strengthened the total with a 125-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Centuries from Will Young (107) and Tom Latham (118) powered New Zealand to 320/5, while Glenn Phillips contributed a quickfire 61.

For Pakistan, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf claimed two wickets each, while Abrar Ahmed took one.

Pakistan made one change from their last playing XI in the tri-nation series final, bringing in Haris Rauf for Faheem Ashraf.

New Zealand also made a change, with Matt Henry replacing Jacob Duffy in the lineup, as confirmed by Mitchell Santner.
