Wafaqi Mohtasib team inspects Protectorate of Emigrants Office

Islamabad -UNS: Responding to complaints against the Protectorate of Emigrants, a 3-member Wafaqi Mohtasib Inspection Team headed by the Senior Advisor, Ahmad Farooq visited the Protectorate of Emigrants Office, under the directions of the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman), Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi. It also met the complainants and held a meeting with the senior officials of the organization, wherein it reviewed its performance besides assessing the various complaints.
The Team directed the organization to launch an effective awareness campaign informing the general public about their services not only on its website but also on the billboards in English and Urdu languages. It may be recalled that the Wafaqi Mohtasib Inspection Team during its previous visit to the office, had instructed that the protector stamp facility be made available in all regional offices in addition to online.
During a briefing, the Inspection Team was informed that the instructions of the Wafaqi Mohtasib regarding the protector stamp facility had been implemented and same has been made available online and so far more than 45,000 citizens have availed themselves of this facility. It further informed that the entire process for the intending emigrants visiting this office is completed within two hours.
The Inspection Team was informed that the Protector’s Office has made payments to the tune of Rs.785.4 million with regard to 786 death claim cases in the current year. Additionally, Rs.81.2 million have been disbursed so far to those becoming disabled during the current year, it added.
It may be pointed out that the office of Protectorate of Emigrants was essentially created to protect the rights and employment benefits of the Pakistanis desirous of going abroad. It registers those going abroad and affixes Protector Stamp on their passports. The Inspection Team also went round the various sections of the office and directed that the facilities being provided to those proceeding abroad may be improved further.
